Guess who’s number one on Doc Martin’s Chart?

Yep. Sunshine Jones’ track ‘It’s all in my head’ rests lightly on top of one of our all time, hands down, favorite DJ’s chart this month. What a great track, and how amazing that Doc is busting it out, and chosen to release it on the Sublevel Sampler Volume 4. Yaay for teamwork!

The Halifax Classics Summer 2008 – Halifax, Nova Scotia

Also there’s a little reunion party coming together in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Nick Oliver and his crew on the easternmost point of our civilized continent are gathering their hearts and heads to produce a fantastic event on August 2nd 2008 where many of the artists who performed there back in the days of hay are getting back together to get down. We’re really excited about this party!

There’s nothing much to say… We launch in 4 weeks. Busy in the studio with Doc, and Lillia, Sunshine’s Jone’s new album, Sunday Soul and remixing like wild flowers. Booking the rest of the year quickly. Waiting for deposits, and visualizing all of us together, dancing, wide open, hopeful, and beautiful.

Sunshine Jones has posted a january 2008 chart on his journal. A collection of Sunday Soul and Live DJ/ Performance tracks which have made it happen for him already this year.

Year’s End Mentionables

Sunshine Jones has been included in MixMag‘s top 50 albums of 2007! Number 32 to be precise. We were very surprised, and welcome this praise with a reciprocal warmth and delight.

Also, Sonic-O has named Sunshine’s ‘Seven Tracks in Seven Days’ album one of the year’s top 5 albums by a non-solo electronic artist. The electronic part we understand, but the non solo part is a bit baffling, but we’re thankful just the same.

Lots of chart activity throughout the year, and it’s lovely to see Sunshine’s electronic solo work being included in the year’s summaries.

After taking it all much too seriously, Sunshine simply pressed record and played until he felt he’d done what he came to do. As Treehouse Muzique prepare for their official launch, making dubs, re edits, and b-sides for the singles to be released next year, we thought it was a good idea to make the past a part of the present for you.

Imperial DUB Recordings (and soon Vintage Dubtribe Sound System) material is now available in the store. Click the Muzique link in our menu and then visit the Boutique for imperial DUB. The music there is in its original form, mastered from the source recordings, and printed as high quality 320 kbps mp3 files. We’re packed them up as EP’s and so for a mere $3.49 you get the entire release.

Plans are to continue to re release our entire catalog of available titles, with the exception of full length CD’s (which you can get on iTunes, and Beatport) and selected titles which IDR no longer have the rights to. In addition, we’re working hard on a Dubtribe boutique as well, where there will be live versions, demos, and music which we think should be revived, or maintained for you. Enjoy!

Alchemy РSunshine Jones and Jen̦

San Francisco Legend DJ Jenö (Wicked, Back2Back, Noise from the Void) and Sunshine Jones (Dubtribe Sound System, Treehouse Muzique, Sunday Soul) have agreed upon two gigs together this year. December 14th at LOVE in New York City, and December 15th ay Club 5 in Washington DC. Two evenings of Alchemy, Belle ame electronique and Noizy Mischief. Definitely not to be missed.

Tiger Stripes – Manuel Tur Remixes

Hisa at King Street has offered Tiger Stripes a chance to remix anything he wants off of Seven Tracks in Seven Days. The choice turned out to be If you wouldn’t mind. Can’t wait to hear it. To complete a remix 12″ single, Manuel Tur has accepted our offer of a remix exchange. Manuel will remix something he loves from the album, and in return Sunshine will remix something for his forthcoming album on Freerange. Looks like a very interesting single is in the works at King Street!

How it works

There are seven instances of the WordPress loop in the index page. Two in the sidebar where space is reserved for things like upcoming events, sunday soul broadcasts, records released on other labels, tours, and recent posts on the bulliet board.

There are four loops across the bottom of the main page which are designated as space to present the most recent music added to the store and/or released on other labels. This only appears on the index, and the images are the links to the locations of the content. The php titles have been removed and must be added manually within each post to create the image up look and feel.

Finally, the last loop is this container here. While not a lot of essay writing is going to happen at Treehouse Muzique, there is a section of essays called subterfuge which was a destination for thoughts about parties, tours, socialism, political thinking and other musing. But this didn’t seem in keeping with the basic idea that Treehouse Muzique will be music driven and not at all served up via the cult of personality as have been our efforts in the past.
